Bureau of Meteorology Hogan Island Weather Station Maintenance
Around June every year we are tasked to fly two gents from the Bureau of Meterorology to Hogan Island in Bass Strait to maintain their weather station. An island that seems quite barren from the air reveals its beauty on the ground.
Frankston Liftjob
This liftjob at the Frankston Shopping Centre was conducted early morning - mainly to take advantage of the cooler temperatures, and therefore a better lifting capability of the Squirrel helicopter. The units were right on the machine's all up weight limit.
Chadstone Liftjob
Chadstone was extended and at the same time upgraded. As part of this, PHS lifted old air conditioning units off the roof and placed brand new ones in their place with an AS 350 Squirrel.
Lighthouse Supply
Every couple of years our Jet Ranger flies to a few islands in Bass Strait to supply the lighthouses.
Tree Removal
A tree needed to be removed, and the best, cheapest and SAFEST way was by chopper.
Offshore Power Boat Race
Our helicopters fly photographers, cameramen and lifesavers during the major offshore power boat events.
Miscellaneous
Some of the pictures below date back to the 1980's. This shows you the vast experience PHS has in all aspects of helicopter flying, in particular with Aerial Work.
