Mastercard Commercial - Pilot: Ron Newman
The
helicopter «Air Taxi» hovering outside 42nd floor prior to
climbing up to the roof and chasing away the «bad guys» and
picking up the «good guys».
Cameraman
(Rob Murray) standing on the skids & attached to the helicopter with
a safety harness in order to film the actor in the left hand rear seat.
The
male «hero» (stuntman) put the female hero (stunt woman) onboard
and then, as the helicopter started to climb, he grabbed the skids and
pulled himself in.
Jacky Chan's «First Strike» - Pilot: Brett Newman
Brett
spent most of the time being made up as either a Ukraine Police Pilot
or the «Baddie» helicopter pilot.
Brett
and Ron did most of the chase work and all the stunt flying for the film.
The
stunt man skied over a cliff and grabbed the skid of the hovering helicopter.
A wire attached to his hat ignited a small explosive that made it look
as though his head had contacted the main rotor. You can see the remains
of his hat behind him.
We
manufactured rocket launchers and machine guns and then the special effects
people made them look as though they were firing. The rockets were launched
along a wire into their target. You can see it approaching the Jet Ranger
in the next photo.
We
purchased a wrecked Bell 206, painted it in our colours and fitted a lawn
mower engine to drive the main rotor and a «whipper snipper»
motor to drive the tail rotor. The helicopter was then lifted by the crane,
the motors started and then it was blown up and dropped into a frozen
lake.

Kangaroo Jack - Pilot: Dan O'Dwyer
Dan
O'Dwyer was our Northern Territory Manager, and flew one of our Jet Rangers
from Ayers Rock to Alice Springs where it was painted as a Police helicopter
with «Latex» paint. He then flew it to Coober Peedy for part
of a feature film. Once the job was finished, the paint was peeled off
and the chopper was back in our colours.
