Hover Exit Training
The pilot conducting «Hover Exit Training» for Natural Resources & Environment (NRE) staff on the fire management contract we hold with NRE. This contract runs for approximately 3 months each year. During the contract, we rotate our pilots every 2 - 3 weeks. This
training is conducted to ensure the NRE fire fighters can safely exit
the helicopter to fight a fire in situations where the helicopter cannot
land.
Backburning
Backburning is conducted every year prior to the fire season. It is part of the Victoria Bushfire Prevention. Effective fire prevention minimises bushfire damage to life, property, public land assets and values, and minimises suppression costs. The ”drip torch” is a device that releases burning fluid at a set interval.
