Outlined below are our training rates:

Basic Training

NOTE - Students training for a Commercial Pilot Licence are exempt from GST.

  1. COMMERCIAL STUDENTS
  2. $450 / Hr - GST exempt (Pay as you fly)
  3. $440 / Hr - GST exempt (Paid in 10 hr blocks)

  4. PRIVATE STUDENTS
  5. $495 / Hr - Including GST (Pay as you fly)
  6. $484 / Hr - Including GST (Paid in 10 hr blocks)

  7. CASUAL TRAINING (Less than 10 hrs)
  8. $495 / Hr (GST inclusive)

NOTE - It is a legal requirement that all pre-paid fees be used within 5 weeks.


Casual Training and Endorsements - Including GST

  1. $495 / Hr Robinson R22 or Schweizer 300 CBi
  2. $900 / Hr Robinson R44
  3. $1200 / Hr Bell Jet Ranger - See money saving ideas below
  4. $1600 / Hr AS350 Squirrel

Flight Reviews

  1. Daytime flights Conducted at Casual Rate plus Testing Fee
  2. Night flights Training only. $595 / Hr.
  3. Instructor Hire Minimum of 1 Hour; $150 / Hr.
  4. Testing Fee Endorsements, BFR’s, Ratings, etc. includes Sticker; $150 / Hr.

Commercial Theory Course

  1. $2,500

This includes Ron Newman's book «Helicopters will take you anywhere».

Private Licence

  1. The minimum flight time is 50 hours, or
  2. 38 hours if you hold a Private or Commercial "Fixed Wing" licence

Commercial Licence

  1. The minimum flight time is 105 hours or
  2. 70 hours if you hold a Private «Fixed Wing» licence or
  3. 60 hours if you hold a Commercial «Fixed Wing» licence.
  4. If the final 30 hours of training is NOT completed within a 3 month period, you will require additional hours in order to obtain a Commercial licencem i.e. 125 hours, not 105 hours.

Examination Requirements

Private Licence
  1. In house «Basic Aeronautical Knowledge» (BAK) plus a CASA «Private Helicopter Exam»
Commercial Licence
  1. In house «Basic Aeronautical Knowledge» (BAK) plus either a CASA «Commercial Helicopter Final Exam», or
  2. a CASA «Conversion exam» if you hold a Commercial Fixed Wing licence

The CASA exams are now done as «Cyber Exams». The Private exam is covered in one sitting whereas the commercial subjects are covered in 7 separate exams as follows:

  1. Flight rules & Air Law
  2. Navigation & Operations
  3. Operations, Performance & Flight Planning
  4. Aircraft General Knowledge (Helicopter)
  5. Aerodynamics (Helicopter)
  6. Meteorology
  7. Human Factors

  1. A 5 hour turbine endorsement in a Bell Jet Ranger for $4,500. Save $1,500
